"If we die with The Lord we shall live with The Lord"

 Romans 14:8

Above all else, Lent is the time when those preparing for initiation into the Church at the Easter Vigil enter the final phase of intense preparation for Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist.  The disciplines of Lent  draw their inspiration from the journey of the catechuemen seeking to be as perfectly spiritually prepared as possible for momentous event of initiation during the Great Vigil.  Prayer, fasting and abstinence, while required of those to be initiated, mark the journey for all Christians who will recall and renew their own Baptism on this most holy night.

The links on this page provide history, helpful hints and hope for anyone wishing to make Lent a meaningful and spirited celebration for all members of Christ the King parish.  Pray for those to be initiated, and prepare to renew your own committment to your Baptismal vows.

Why do Christians abstain from meat on the Fridays of Lent?  Why do we "give something up?"  It's all about your Baptism!

Lent.  It's all about Baptism.
